Welcoming Back Experimenters!

  •

I have been eagerly awaiting this moment for months now.  Since the winners of the National Championship accepted their trophy and exited stage right back in September, I have been looking forward to making this announcement. We’re back!

In true Experimental fashion, we didn’t just double down. We nearly tripled the number of cities from last year. The 2012 Food Experiments National Tour will make 16 stops this year.  We will be returning to some great cities and visiting many new ones. Seriously, I can’t thank Brooklyn Brewery enough for making this a reality. This ain’t some bullshit thank you! I am getting to travel, eat, and meet new people. It happened just like “The Secret” said it would. Once again, I am proud of the relationship with our presenting sponsor, Brooklyn Brewery!

I can’t wait to get back to the great culinary destinations of last year. I am already dreaming of the BBQ in Austin, the Seafood of Boston, the Sandwiches in Philly. Plus, I am imagining all the delicious food I will discover in Chicago (sausages, pizza), Atlanta (chicken), Raleigh (BBQ), Pittsburgh (Perogis), Houston (chicken fried steak), Twin Cities, and Columbus.

I do have some disappointing news, seriously. Nick Suarez, the Swedish Fish to my Gummy Bear, has left active Experimental duty to get yelled at work on the line at Danny Meyer’s Modern Restaurant. Please do not get me wrong, Nick, the taco to my enchilada, will still be a part of the Experiments, working on them behind the scenes. Unfortunately, his travel days are behind him. The real tragedy is that Suarez, the Apollo Creed to my Rocky Balboa, might start to catch up to me in the kitchen. I don’t even want to consider the scary possibility.  I wish Nick Suarez, the Tesla to my Edison, all the very best in his culinary pursuits.

Also, you might have noticed that we revamped our website. As usual, I have to thank our graphics man, Mark Kupasrimonkol, who once again outdid himself. Please poke around and take a tour. I think the “look” is great. The guy has 50,000 jobs for the love of god, but he would probably take one more. Write the Food Experiments if you want to talk with him.

I want to give a shout out to our newest team member, EB. She wanted to help with PR, but she is letting us pick her brain about everything. When she is not at her day job, you might find her eating the City’s best pie or banana pudding.
